Description
Karui is designed by the Danish-Italian design studio GamFratesi. The trays are produced using metal spinning, a traditional manufacturing technique. The leather comes from Tärnsjö, Sweden’s leading tannery, renowned for its exceptional quality and located near Skultuna in northern Västmanland.
Stine Gam describes the design philosophy behind the trays:
“The trays are called Karui / 軽い, which in Japanese means soft, but also light. The Japanese word carries additional meanings, such as ‘ease’ and ‘simplicity,’ reflecting the informal and effortless feeling we wanted to convey through the Karui trays.”
Designed in 2015.
